Swan 45 The Swan 45 is a high performance one design racer launched in 2001, denoting a new generation of Swan, the Swan 45 harnesses the racing characteristics of a thoroughbred performer with the style and comfort of a luxury cruiser. Designed by German Frers, the Swan 45 is tuned to compete at the highest level, consistently taking centre stage at major international regattas. The model has developed a strong Class Association, established in 2002 and run by an owner network of passionate sailors since 2007, the class has in excess of 50 participants worldwide. Consisting of two comprehensive racing programmes, the Mediterranean and International Circuits, the Swan 45 Class has become one of the most competitive and socially active in the world. Key considerations for the one design racer successfully combine space and comfort, with advanced technology rigging, efficient deck layout and luxurious interior. The deck layout offers simple sail handling and manoeuvrability. Double ended mainsheet and traveller control systems running under the deck keeps visible lines and fittings to a minimum, helping simplify the sailing for both cruising and racing situations. Advanced Sprint laminate sandwich technology is used in the deck construction whilst utilising a teak finish in the cockpit and side decks to match the interior. A spacious cockpit provides room for a working crew and comfortable area for cruising. Conceived using the latest design technology and advanced materials, the hull design benefits from the racing expertise of German Frers and over 40 years of production experience from Nautor’s Swan to produce the ultimate one design racing mould.The hull is glass / vinylester laminate with sandwich topsides and a monolithic carbon reinforced bottom, which generates minimal drag and is key to the Swan 45’s speed and responsiveness. The interior layout offers plenty of space for all guests with a comfortable large double cabin forward and aft with adjacent heads and showers. The aft layout can be altered to accommodate two cabins and additional pullman berths are available to cater for a larger crew.
